Motorists should anticipate double lane closures on I-95 northbound and southbound at both bridges over the Ni River (mile marker 121)

FREDERICKSBURG  –  The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will continue work to improve both bridges on Interstate 95 over the Ni River in Spotsylvania County.

Motorists should anticipate double lane closures and overnight travel delays this week on I-95 at mile marker 121, north of Exit 118 (Thornburg).

The following lane closures are planned for this week beginning tonight, Aug. 21, weather permitting:

I-95 Northbound and Southbound:

Monday, Aug. 21 ˗˗ Friday, Aug. 25 (ending at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26)

  • Single lane closure at 9 p.m. at mile marker 121 (Ni River bridge) north of Exit 118  (Route 606/Thornburg)
  • Double lane closure at 10 p.m.
  • All lanes open by 4:30 a.m.

Virginia State Police will assist with traffic control near the work zone.

Motorists will see message boards warning them about the work zone and closures.
