I-95 NORTHBOUND FULL TRAFFIC STOPS IN STAFFORD OVERNIGHT
Overhead sign installation will require full 20 min. traffic stops between midnight and 3 a.m. early Friday, June 30, near Exit 143 (Route 610) in Stafford

FREDERICKSBURG – Drivers can anticipate significant travel delays on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound in the Fredericksburg region this evening and early Friday, including full traffic stops after midnight in Stafford County.

Travelers are encouraged to consider using Route 1 and alternate routes to avoid delays. Overhead message boards on I-95 will warn drivers of work zones and lane closures ahead.

Check 511Virginia to see real-time traffic information, including information on work zones, congestion and incidents.  

The following I-95 lane closures are planned for this evening and early Friday in the Fredericksburg area, weather permitting:

I-95 Northbound near Exit 143 (Route 610), Stafford County

  • Double lane closure at 10 p.m.
  • Full traffic stops for up to 20 min. intervals between midnight and 3 a.m.
  • All lanes re-open by 4:30 a.m.

Crews are installing overhead signs as part of the I-95 Express Lanes Southern Terminus Extension project.

I-95 Southbound between Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) and Exit 133 (Route 17), Stafford County

  • Mobile single lane closure at 10 p.m.
  • All lanes re-open by 4:30 a.m.

Overhead sign inspections are underway between Exit 136 and Exit 133 in a mobile work zone.

I-95 Northbound and Southbound at Ni River Bridge, Mile Marker 121 (South of Exit 126/Spotsylvania), Spotsylvania County

  • I-95 northbound and southbound single lane closure at 9 p.m.
  • Double lane closure at 10 p.m.
  • All lanes re-open by 4:30 a.m.

Repairs continue to the I-95 northbound and southbound bridges over Ni River, which are among six interstate bridges being rehabilitated in the Fredericksburg area through fall 2018.
