NORRIS BRIDGE INSPECTION CONTINUES OCT. 16-20
Drivers can expect daytime delays 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. next week on Route 3 at the Robert O. Norris Bridge between Lancaster and Middlesex counties

FREDERICKSBURG – Drivers traveling Route 3 over the Robert O. Norris Bridge between Lancaster and Middlesex counties will encounter daytime delays next week as the second week of a scheduled bridge inspection continues.

Route 3 will be reduced to a single lane on the Norris Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Monday, Oct. 16 through Friday, Oct. 20. One-way, alternating traffic will cross the bridge controlled by automated flagging stations.

The bridge inspection crew is coordinating lane closures with the bridge painting project and structural steel repairs.

When lane closures for the bridge inspection work zone are in place, the temporary traffic signals at the bridge’s center spans for painting will be placed in flash mode.

When inspection work is completed each day, the traffic signals will resume color operation, and will again control traffic.

Additional information on Norris Bridge painting work and structural steel work is available online at the project page on www.VirginiaDOT.org.
