UPDATE: ROUTE 360 PAVING WORK NEAR DOWNING BRIDGE BEGINS WEDNESDAY, OCT. 4
Motorists will encounter a single lane closure on Route 360 eastbound Wednesday-Friday from just north of Downing Bridge to Newland Road in Richmond County
FREDERICKSBURG – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has updated work zone dates and times this week for paving on Route 360 eastbound in Richmond County, just north of the Downing Bridge over the Rappahannock River.
Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 4, drivers can expect brief delays for several days on Route 360 eastbound from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for paving. The work zone begins a quarter mile north of the Downing Bridge, where the two-lane section of highway begins, through Newland Road. Work was originally scheduled to begin Tuesday, Oct. 3.
Weather permitting, work is scheduled to also be underway 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 and Friday, Oct. 6.
There will be no lane closures on the Downing Bridge. The bridge is located between Essex and Richmond counties.
Message boards will be posted to notify travelers about the upcoming work zone, and the potential for brief travel delays.

VDOT’s 14-county Fredericksburg District includes the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford in the Fredericksburg area; Northumberland, Richmond, Lancaster and Westmoreland counties in the Northern Neck; Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex counties in the Middle Peninsula.
