BE PREPARED FOR SNOW DURING TUESDAY MORNING COMMUTE
Motorists should monitor weather forecasts and plan for extra travel time with winter weather conditions starting early Tuesday morning
FREDERICKSBURG – Motorists should monitor weather forecasts closely and plan for extra travel time with winter weather conditions forecast to affect the Fredericksburg District starting early Tuesday morning.
Light snow is expected to start falling overnight and continue into the morning rush hour.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is ready to respond with staffing, equipment and materials.
Fredericksburg District crews will mobilize if necessary to spread sand, salt and treatment chemicals as needed to improve motorist traction. Crews will treat the interstate and primary roads first, and then move to high-volume secondary roads.
Before hitting the road, check www.511virginia.org or the 511 mobile app for real-time road conditions in any area of the state.
Drivers can stay safe by allowing extra travel time to reach their destination and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. Be aware of slick spots such as bridges, overpasses and shaded areas.
