 Roads will be closed for Norfolk-Southern Railroad crossing repairs

LYNCHBURG- The road closure information associated with work on several rail crossing in Nelson County by Norfolk-Southern Railroad has been updated to include detour information.

During the April 7-17 timeframe, repairs will be made to crossings on Route 56 (James River Road), Route 617 (Rockfish Road), Route 639 (Craigtown Road) and Route 817 (Mann Lane).  The work will take place during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and message boards and other devices will be used to alert motorists in advance of this work. 

In addition, signed detours will be available for all routes, except Route 817 which is a dead end route. Access for emergency vehicles will be addressed by the contractor.

Route 56 traffic will use Routes 639, 719 and 648; Route 617 traffic will use Routes 719, 648 and 56 and Route 617 traffic will use Routes 639, 6 and 620.
