CASCADE CREEK ROAD CLOSURE TO START MONDAY
Closure of section of Route 622 will result in detour for motorists
LYNCHBURG – The contract for the Route 622 over Cascade Creek bridge replacement project has been awarded to Allegheny Construction of Roanoke, VA and motorists should anticipate closure of the structure on Monday, July 27, weather permitting.
The road will be closed between Route 621 and Route 859. A signed detour will be in place to assist motorists. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has coordinated this closure and detour with the Pittsylvania County School system and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).
The approximately $1.5 million project will replace the structurally deficient bridge over Cascade Creek which was built in 1930.
The project is scheduled to be substantially complete and the road open to traffic prior to Thanksgiving 2015 and the entire project is scheduled to be complete before Christmas of this year.
