460 ACCESS MANAGEMENT PROJECT MAKING PROGRESS
New access to Truck Body Company to open soon
LYNCHBURG – Phase II of the Route 460 Access Management project in the City of Lynchburg is making progress. Motorists have watched tons of dirt being moved, pipe being laid, and the shape of service roads become more evident day after day. Now, the first of those service roads will begin to be used.
Weather permitting, on Friday night, August 19, the existing entrances to Truck Body Company will be closed and the service roads that access the facility will be opened. Signs will direct motorists to the new traffic pattern.
Currently, the paving contractor is working on three service roads and acceleration and deceleration lanes and shoulders preparing them to accept traffic. The current operations will complete when the final asphalt layer is placed on each of these facilities in October.
Motorists should be alert to the presence of manpower and machinery in this area, including line marker equipment.
The entire $20 million project is slated for completion by November 2017.
