NEW US 501 BRIDGE AT SNOWDEN TO OPEN TO TWO-WAY TRAFFIC
LYNCHBURG – The newly-constructed US 501 bridge over the James River and railroad at Snowden on the Amherst/Bedford County line will open to two-way traffic on Tuesday, November 8; however, the job will not be complete at that time.
On the southern (Bedford County) approach to the new bridge, traffic will be restricted to alternating one-way traffic controlled by temporary signals for approximately three weeks while Route 501 roadway reconstruction is completed.
The entire project is slated for completion by April 21, 2017.
