US 460 DECELERATION (TURN) LANES TO CANDLERS MOUNTAIN ROAD AND UNIVERSITY BLVD. TO BE TEMPORILY REDUCED IN LENGTH
LYNCHBURG – Repairs to the bridge joint seals on the Route 670 (Candlers Mountain Road) bridge are underway and Route 670 traffic has been detoured. Additional deterioration of the joints discovered during initial work will result in the temporary reduction in length for traffic accessing the deceleration (turn) lane from US 460 eastbound to Route 670 and the turn lane from US 460 westbound to University Blvd.
Weather permitting the westbound US 460 turn lane will be reduced in length beginning at 6:00 am on Friday, June 17 through the evening hours. On Saturday, the turn lane from US 460 eastbound will be reduced in length beginning at 6:00 am through the evening hours. These reductions in the turn lane lengths are necessary to provide a work zone for the VDOT Contractor to access the area under the bridge to complete the required work.
Signs and other traffic control devices will be used to alert motorists to these operations and to the change in traffic pattern.
