DETOURS IN PLACE IN SOUTH BOSTON AREA, HALIFAX COUNTY

LYNCHBURG – Motorists will continue to deal with road closures and changes in traffic pattern in the South Boston area of Halifax County over the next few days as recent heavy rain has flooded portions of US 501 and 58.

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews will assist motorists through the detour using (from direction of Danville) routes 58, 708, 658, 501, 744, 743, 742 and back to Route 58. The detour will remain in place until the water recedes and the road is deemed safe for travel.

A number of secondary roads also remain closed in Halifax and Pittsylvania counties.
