EXPECT DELAYS ON US 460/29 IN LYNCHBURG
Work continues on access management project

LYNCHBURG – Work on the US 29/460 Access Management Project in the City of Lynchburg is nearing completion. Motorists can expect lane closures and possible delays beginning 8 pm. Friday, June 23 and throughout the weekend, weather permitting. Motorists are urged to slow down and use caution when traveling through this work zone.

The primary purpose of the two-phase project is to provide additional safety improvements on the Route 460/29 corridor from Route 501, Campbell Avenue to Route 29, Monacan Parkway. Phase I included the closure or modification of crossovers, installation of an emergency crossover at Tyreeanna/Holcomb Path, a right-out only connection at Tyreeanna Road and the installation of a jughandle for U-turns and left turns at Concord Turnpike. Phase I was completed in July 2011.

Construction of Phase II began in early 2016. The project includes the construction of auxiliary lanes so traffic entering or leaving Route 460/29 will have dedicated lanes in which to accelerate or decelerate to and from highway speeds, reduced or relocated private and business entrances; access to local businesses and residences in/near the trailer park.

Current information on the planned work may be obtained by calling 511 or viewing information online at www.511virginia.org.
