Wet roads reported throughout VDOT’s Lynchburg District

LYNCHBURG – The public is waking up to wet roads across the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) this morning; however, the storm that brought all that rain is not quite out of the picture yet so caution is urged.

While no reports of snowy or icy conditions have been received as of 4 a.m. the potential remains, especially along the ridge tops in Amherst and Nelson counties. Motorists are urged to check the road conditions before driving this morning, to slow down and pay particular attention when crossing bridges and overpasses where freezing occurs more frequently.

Travelers can get real-time information on road conditions, traffic incidents and congestion on Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the website and phone system, which can help travelers plan their routes accordingly.

The Lynchburg District includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
