 VDOT CONTINUES TO URGE CAUTION
Major roads in good condition but icy areas remain

LYNCHBURG - VDOT crews in the ten-county Lynchburg District have been fully involved in winter weather response since last week and their efforts have paid off. Major roads throughout the district are generally bare except for isolated spots of snow or ice. However, secondary routes are still snow-covered in many locations.

Crews will ensure roads are passable but passable may not mean free of snow/ice and once temperatures do rise above freezing, any moisture left on surfaces may refreeze as temperatures drop during overnight hours.  This cycle may continue until temperatures are consistently above freezing later this week.

Information about road conditions is available at www.511Virginia.org, on VDOT’s 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia or on VDOT’s website at  www.VirginiaDOT.org. Local updates are also available by following the Lynchburg District on Twitter at @VaDOTLynchburg.

Weather related road issues can be reported by calling 800-FOR-ROADS (800-367-7623) or by going to https://my.vdot.virginia.gov/

The Lynchburg District includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
