WINTER WEATHER IS OVER; CAUTION STILL URGED
Refreeze possible overnight in VDOT's Lynchburg District

LYNCHBURG – The wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow has moved out of the area but travel worries are not over yet in the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).

While conditions have improved, temperatures will drop significantly this evening and any moisture remaining on surfaces, particularly bridges and overpasses may refreeze. Caution should be used until temperatures are consistently above freezing on Wednesday.

If travel is necessary, it is important that motorists are aware of road conditions and traffic incidents before venturing out. Travelers can get real-time information on Virginia roads by using VDOT’s 511 free mobile app or the www.511Virginia.org website and phone system.

The Lynchburg District includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
