DRIVERS SHOULD EXPECT ICE OR SNOW COVERED ROADS IN MUCH OF LYNCHBURG DISTRICT

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Motorists should anticipate ice or snow covered roads in much of the Lynchburg District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) on Sunday, February 4 due to a wintry mix of snow, freezing rain and rain that is expected to reach south-central Virginia early and continue into the afternoon hours.

VDOT is pretreating primary roads in the northwest and southern portions of the district today in expectation of the initial snow and freezing rain expected to fall.

Motorists should monitor weather conditions through local media or on NOAA.gov and road conditions using VDOT’s free 511 tools. Additional information about winter-weather preparations and response is on VDOT’s website at www.virginiadot.org/travel/snow.asp. Local updates are posted to VDOT’s Lynchburg District Twitter account.

The Lynchburg Districts includes the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Buckingham, Campbell, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, Pittsylvania and Prince Edward.
