Drivers asked to be aware of changing road conditions during morning rush

FAIRFAX—Virginia Department of Transportation crews are preparing for a wintry mix expected to begin in northern Virginia at the start of tomorrow morning’s rush hour. As pavement temperatures will be hovering around freezing, drivers are asked to check road conditions before leaving, delay trips if necessary and be aware of changing road conditions throughout the day.

By midnight about 800 trucks will be pre-deployed throughout Loudoun, Fairfax, Prince William and Arlington counties.

Crews will not be pre-treating as rain is expected this evening.

VDOT reminds drivers to use caution in winter weather, and:

• Check for road conditions
• Slow down and allow for extra time to reach your destination
• Be aware of potentially icy areas such as shady spots and bridges
