Friday Morning Road Update
Icy patches possible; Use caution especially bridges, ramps, neighborhood roads

FAIRFAX—(5:30 a.m.)  Continue to use caution for icy patches on northern Virginia roads this morning, advises the Virginia Department Transportation. Overnight winds assisted crews by drying most of the region, but low pavement temperatures will quickly refreeze any moisture left from yesterday’s squalls.

  • Given the low pavement temperatures, use special caution on bridges, ramps, hills, curves, as well as neighborhood roads that tend to be shadier and less-traveled.
  • Be mindful of crews on duty through morning rush hour. Give room to trucks riding with traffic or staging roadside.

VDOT’s Northern Virginia District includes Arlington*, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties. *Arlington maintains secondary roads.
