TRANSPORTATION BOARD AWARDS BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN NOTTOWAY COUNTY
$8.6 million project scheduled to begin summer 2015
COLONIAL HEIGHTS — The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) awarded a contract worth approximately $8.6 million Wednesday at its monthly meeting to Curtis Contracting, Incorporated of West Point, Va., to replace the bridge on Cox Road (U.S. 460 Business) over railroad tracks in Nottoway County.
Located just outside the town of Blackstone, the new bridge will replace the existing 86-year-old structure and improve its approaches. The new structure will provide two 12-foot lanes for vehicular traffic with 10-foot shoulders to accommodate cyclists and pedestrians.
Cox Road (Route 460 Business) carries approximately 4,000 vehicles per day.
Construction will begin in summer 2015. The project is expected to be complete in summer 2017. For more information, visit http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/richmond/rt._460_bridge_replacement_in_nottoway.asp.
