MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS ON I-81 SOUTHBOUND IN THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY

STAUNTON – There is a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 81 southbound in Rockingham County at mile marker 240 in Mount Crawford This location is about two miles south of Harrisonburg. Both southbound lanes are closed, with traffic backed up about five miles. Traffic is getting off of I-81 at Exit 240.

A tractor-trailer accident has caused both I-81 southbound lanes to be closed at mile marker 232 in Augusta County. This is north of the Staunton-Verona area. Traffic is being detoured through the Virginia Department of Transportation safety rest area, which is at this location. There is an eight-mile back up with this accident.

In Rockbridge County on Route 11 near Route 851 there is an accident that has one northbound lane closed on Route 11. This location is about six miles north of Fairfield, in the Steeles Tavern area.

Motorists should expect significant delays in these areas.
