STAUNTON – Motorists should be alert for bridge work on Route 654 (Doe Hill Road) in the McDowell area of Highland County.  The bridge is located approximately a half mile south of Route 617 (Seldom Scene Road) and crosses a tributary of the Bull Pasture River.

Work will begin on Aug. 20 and is expected to be complete on Sept. 12.  The work zone hours are Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.  There will be flagger traffic control during work zone hours.  During non-work zone hours traffic will be controlled with a stop and proceed sign.
Crews will be replacing the existing bridge with a new box culvert.

All work is weather permitting.
