ROUTE 716 CLOSURE RESCHEDULED FOR JULY 25 IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY
STAUNTON – The closure on Route 716 in Rockbridge County has been changed to July 25. Previously it was scheduled for July 24.
A portion of Route 716 will be closed on July 25 in Rockbridge County. This closure is in conjunction with the Interstate 81 truck climbing lane project. Route 716 will be closed in the vicinity of the I-81 bridge. Crews will be performing deck work. Signs will be posted in the area to notify travelers several days in advance of this closure.
All work is weather permitting.
The I-81 truck climbing lane project valued at $74.2 million was awarded by Commonwealth Transportation Board on Feb. 5, 2009 to W. C. English Inc. of Lynchburg. Completion is scheduled for fall 2012. The work zone is along the northbound lanes from mile marker 195.6 to 202.5, which is just north of Lexington.
