STAUNTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Lexington Residency Office has announced its schedule for the application of Krenite S for brush control in Highland County this year. The following routes will have Krenite S applied from August 4 to August 15.

Highland County

Route 610, from Route 678 to Route 609.

Route 614, from Route 616 to Route 613.

Route 618, from Route 614 north to 1.30 miles west of Route 614 north.

Route 621, from Route 636 to dead end.

Route 624, from Route 617 to 2.30 miles west of Route 617.

Route 640, from Route 642 to Route 637.

Route 678, from Route 609 to Bath County Line.

All of the locations listed may not be covered due to weather conditions and budget.

Krenite S is different from other brush control chemicals. Treated vegetation with Krenite S does not usually show any immediate affects; rather it does not produce foliage the following spring.

Krenite S applications are made in order to ensure the safety of those traveling on state-maintained roadways and to maintain the integrity of highway assets.  These herbicide applications also reduce maintenance costs and reduce mowing frequency.
