STAUNTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation will briefly close a portion of Route 647 (Dismal Hollow Road) in Warren County for a pipe installation. The work will take place overnight on Thursday, June 26, 2014 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. near the intersection with Route 603 (Oregon Hollow Road) in the Front Royal area.

Signs and variable message boards will direct drivers on a detour route. Eastbound traffic will use Route 624 west to Route 522 east, and then follow Route 55 east to Route 647. Westbound traffic will use Route 55 west to Route 522 west, then Route 624 east to Route 647.

Route 647 is expected to reopen to one lane of flagger-controlled traffic at 5 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2014. This work is part of the reconstruction of Route 603, but that road will remain open for local traffic throughout the pipe installation. All work is weather permitting.
