SOUTHBOUND I-81 CLOSED IN SHENANDOAH COUNTY
STAUNTON – An accident has closed both southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 273 in Shenandoah County. The crash took place about 7:30 a.m., and there is no estimate on when the southbound lanes will re-open. Traffic backups are currently four miles.
A detour has been set up at exit 273 (Mount Jackson/Basye). Drivers are being directed to the off-ramp where they will cross Route 292 and follow the on-ramp back to the interstate.
