I-81 SOUTHBOUND REOPENS IN FREDERICK COUNTY
STAUNTON – (2:45 p.m.) Both southbound lanes of Interstate 81 have reopened in Frederick County, following a crash at mile marker 314 near Winchester. The detour for southbound I-81 traffic has been lifted.
Drivers should continue to expect major delays in this area. Backups on southbound I-81 are currently about eight miles.
Traffic alerts and traveler information can be obtained by dialing 511. Traffic alerts, traffic cameras and traveler information also are available at 511Virginia.org. Apps for 511 using Android and iOS are available that feature real-time updates and live traffic cameras and maps.
For other assistance call the VDOT Customer Service Center, available 24 hours-a-day, seven days a week. Citizens can dial 1-800-FOR- ROAD (1-800-367-7623) from anywhere in the state to report road hazards, ask transportation questions, or get information related to Virginia’s roads.
