STAUNTON – (11 a.m.) The right lane of northbound Interstate 81 remains closed in Warren County for bridge work at mile marker 299.8. The right lane may be closed until mid-afternoon on Friday (April 28). Traffic is currently backed up about 6 miles at this location, which is near the Shenandoah-Warren county line and just south of the junction of I-81 and I-66.

Contractors overnight poured a new concrete deck overlay on the bridge over Route 840 (Water Plant Road). The concrete is taking longer than expected to fully cure and be ready for interstate traffic.

All work is weather permitting.
