ROUTE 716 IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY CLOSING MARCH 20 FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

STAUNTON – Part of Route 716 (Mount Atlas Road) in Rockbridge County will be closed for four weeks beginning Monday, March 20. This closure allows the Virginia Department of Transportation to replace the bridge over Mouse Run, between Route 727 (Stuart Road) and Route 39 (Maury River Road).

Residents who live within the work zone will be able to access their properties on either side of the bridge. Through traffic using Route 716 will be directed on one of these detour routes:

  • Drivers approaching from the east will follow Route 727 north, Route 712 (Decatur Road) west, Route 252 (Brownsburg Turnpike) south and Route 39 (Maury River Road) east to return to Route 716.
  • Drivers approaching from the west will follow Route 39 west, Route 252 north, Route 712 east and then Route 727 south to return to Route 716.

Route 716 is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, April 13. All work is weather permitting.
