Upcoming Events

August 8: Act Fast: The Growing Call for Slower Speeds Webinar

This free webinar from America Walks is based on the premise every community member has a right to safe places to walk and be physically active. Attendees will hear from those leading the call for slower speeds and communities putting people first in the call for safer streets. Register here.

August 9, September 13, and October 11: QuickStart Mini-grant Due Dates

QuickStart Mini-grants are $1,000 reimbursement grants designed to get your Safe Routes to School program going and build momentum. Applications are reviewed six times throughout the school year: three times in the fall, and three times in the spring. To learn more and access the link to the online application, visit the QuickStart Mini-grants webpage.

September 13: Walkabout Mini-grant Due Date

Want to learn more about the walking and bicycling conditions in the area around your school? Walkabout Mini-grant recipients receive a hands-on walking and bicycling infrastructure assessment and a detailed Walkabout Report coordinated by the Local Technical Assistance Coordinator serving their region. Walkabout Reports are designed to support future infrastructure grant applications. Find out more and apply on the Walkabout Mini-grant webpage.

September & October: Take Student Travel Tallies!

Student Travel Tally Week is one of two statewide SRTS events that takes place in the fall. Schools wishing to participate conduct quick, in-class surveys to gather valuable information on student travel patterns twice during a week of their choosing in either September or October. This annual event allows schools, divisions and the statewide program to track the impacts of SRTS.

October 10: International Walk to School Day (iWalk)

iWalk is the second statewide/national event that takes place in the fall. This year, iWalk is Wednesday, October 10. Check out our Walk to School Day webpage for event ideas and free downloadable resources, and be sure to register your event on to help us reach our goal of 350 participating schools.
