March 19 - Webinar: Data Tools for Walking, Biking, and Safe Routes to School Decision-Making
From the Safe Routes to School National Partnership: "New tools are constantly being developed that help us gather and understand data and inform decision-making around walking, biking, and Safe Routes to School.
On this webinar you’ll hear from a state department of transportation that has compiled and mapped Safe Routes to School data in a new tool that helps demonstrate financial transparency, encourages partnership at many levels, and provides access to information for everyone from a parent to a DOT project manager. You will also learn about StreetLight Data and how its applications can be used better understand the walking and bicycling environment and inform decisions that support active travel investments." April 4 - Last spring due date for QuickStart Mini-grants
Have a small SRTS activity or program in mind? QuickStart Mini-grants offer a way to jumpstart your program with a $1,000 grant. You can apply for a QuickStart Mini-grant online; they're perfect for Earth Day or Bike to School events. Learn more on the QuickStart Mini-grants webpage.
May 8 - Bike to School Day
The first-ever National Bike to School Day took place on May 9, 2012, in coordination with the League of American Bicyclists’ National Bike Month and featured almost 1,000 local events in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Last year, a record setting 3,205 schools participated across the country, including 286 right here in Virginia!
