What's Being Done
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is currently conducting a location study to evaluate alternatives to meet travel needs in the study area between Exit 72 and Exit 81 on Interstate 77 near Wytheville.
Through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process, the project team, using input from the public and from various agencies:
- Examines transportation problems such as road capacity, mobility and access
-
Develops solutions to those problems
- Evaluates the impacts of the solutions
Project Updates
The project team, with input from the public and state and federal resource agencies, will develop a range of alternatives and document the impacts of these alternatives in an Environmental Assessment (EA) to comply with NEPA.
