What's Being Done
On May 17, 2006, a $6.6 million contract to construct the first phase of the Moccasin Gap Bypass in Scott County was awarded to Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap. Phase I of the bypass will connect Routes 58, 23 and 224.Design plans to connect Route 72 to the bypass (phases II and III) have been developed, but are on hold pending future funding.
Features
Be alert to the possibility of flaggers periodically controlling traffic along Route 58 in Scott County, between the intersections of Routes 23 and 224 – Wadlow Gap Road. Motorists may experience delays in this area due to the construction of Phase I of the Moccasin Gap Bypass. (Completion: July 1, 2008)
