What's been accomplished

The widening of Route 58 from just east of Route 11-Lee Highway (near Exit 19) in Abingdon to just east of the intersection of Watauga Road in Washington County, was completed in May 2006. The contractor for the project was W-L Construction & Paving, Inc., Chilhowie.

Features

The project included widening a 1-mile section of Route 58 to four lanes and reconstructing the interchange at Watauga Road, replacing the caution light at the intersection with a traffic signal and adding turn lanes in each direction on Route 58.
