Under Construction by State Forces  


Route 603 (Bowlers Mill Road), Louisa County 

VDOT will replace the Route 603 (Bowlers Mill Road) bridge over the South Anna River in Louisa County.  

To accommodate traffic on the dead-end road, crews will construct a temporary road adjacent to the bridge.

Motorists should expect construction activities starting May 26. The new bridge will open to traffic in late September.

The existing Route 603 bridge was built in 1982 and is considered structurally deficient with a


Route 670 (Preddy Creek Road), Greene County 

Route 670 (Preddy Creek Road) is closed to through traffic in Greene County while crews replace a large pipe structure that carries Preddy Creek under the road.

Motorists are advised to use Route 607 (Matthew Mill Road) to detour around the work zone.

The road closed on March 30 and is scheduled to reopen on July 10, weather permitting.


Route 767 (Tenerife Road), Fauquier County 

Starting May 18, construction will resume to replace the superstructure of the Route 767 (Tenerife Road) bridge over Walnut Branch in Fauquier County.

Initial construction tasks started in fall 2019 but the project was paused in the winter while bridge engineers refined the scope of the project.

To accommodate local traffic on the dead-end road, crews will install a temporary road around the bridge.

The project will be complete by late June.

Upcoming Projects

The following small bridge and structure rehabilitation projects are planned through Dec. 2020. Projects will be scheduled according to priority as weather and resources allow. Estimated construction months are subject to change.

Benefits 

The small bridge program rehabilitates aging bridges that serve county residents. If not replaced, the existing bridges will continue to deteriorate and would eventually have to be closed to vehicular traffic.
