What's Being Done

Widening one of the remaining two-lane sections of Route 3 between Culpeper and Fredericksburg to four lanes.

Benefits

This project is one of the final sections in the overall upgrade of Route 3 to a four-lane, divided highway from Culpeper to Fredericksburg.It will further improve safety and traffic flow on this heavily traveled road connecting the Fredericksburg area/I-95 to Route 29.

Impact on Traffic

Two travel lanes will be maintained at all times; however, delays and occasional lane closures controlled by flaggers should be anticipated, particularly at tie-ins of existing and new roadway. Some delays will also occur when equipment moves in and out of the work zone.
