What's in the Study?
The Virginia Department of Transportation performed a safety assessment of the intersection of U.S. 29 and Ashwood Boulevard in Albemarle County. The assessment was done as part of VDOT's analysis of the intersection following a fatal crash at that location in early May, 2008.Along with the safety assessment of the intersection, a speed study was also performed on the 2.1-mile section of U.S. 29 from Polo Grounds Road north to Airport/Proffit Road.
The report on the assessment and speed study contained eight recommendations for actions to enhance safety and reduce the probability of future crashes at the U.S. 29/Ashwood Blvd. intersection and along the U.S. 29 corridor.
