Cost and schedule ►
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has widened Fall Hill Avenue from two lanes to four lanes, with a raised median, from Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park) to a roundabout just west of the bridge over the Rappahannock Canal.
Mary Washington Boulevard was extended from the Mary Washington Hospital campus at Hospital Drive to the new roundabout, which provides a new connection between Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) and Fall Hill Avenue.
Fall Hill Avenue carries approximately 17,200 vehicles per day.
The number of vehicles is expected to double in the next 20 years.
