Recently Completed: Route 1 and Route 620 (Harrison Road) Intersection Improvements

Cost and schedule ►

Construction is underway to improve the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County.

This project will build additional turn lanes and through lanes at the intersection of Route 1 and Harrison Road in Spotsylvania County, as well as extend the length of the existing turn lanes.

Additional sidewalk will be installed around the intersection limits. A 10-foot shared-use path will be built on the north side of Harrison Road between Route 1 and the new Wallace Lane connector road.

Pedestrian crossing equipment will be installed on each corner of Route 1 and Harrison Road. Traffic on Route 1 southbound turning right onto Harrison Road will be required to yield to pedestrians.

Drivers will experience lane shifts, temporary traffic patterns and lane markings, and a potentially rough temporary pavement surface.

Final paving and lane markings will be added at the end of the project. Motorists are asked to stay alert for crews and construction equipment.
