Project Updates

Traffic Alert 7/5/2007: On Friday, July 6, eastbound traffic will be shifted to the new pavement on Route 30 at Rt. 652 in Caroline County and between the railroad crossing and the new bridge in Hanover County. Westbound motorists will not be impacted by this traffic switch

Traffic Alert 4/20/2007: All traffic on Route 30 has been shifted to allow crews to continue the construction of a future State Fair pedestrian tunnel beneath Route 30. The shift occurs 1500 feet east and 1200 feet west of State Route 652. This alignment will stay in place for the next several months as the contractor pursues completion of the divided roadway this summer.

Features

The project will begin at the end of the northbound lane exit ramp of Route I-95 and continue to Route 652 (North Signboard Road) in Caroline County.
From the start of the project, an additional 12' eastbound lane will be added to the south side of Route 30, to the CSX railroad crossing. The south signal gate at this crossing will be moved to accommodate this additional lane. Urban design with curb and gutter will be used west of the railroad crossing. After crossing the railroad tracks, construction will be a divided four-lane highway on the south side of Route 30 that includes a 40' median. This design will accommodate traffic needs as well as improve safety along Route 30. All right of way for the project will be donated.
