What's Being Done

This Urban – State/Local funded project will widen Lynnhaven Parkway from four lanes to six lanes and include new pavement, drainage, water and sewer utility improvements, traffic signal upgrades, bridge widening, and landscaping. The road widening work will extend from just west of Holland Road to just East of Lishelle Place near Lynnhaven Mall. Construction started on this $24.9 million project in January 2008 and completion is scheduled for May 2011.

Traffic Shift:

Lynnhaven Parkway North/South -- Motorists traveling on Lynnhaven Parkway between Holland Road and Lishelle Place will notice a change in the traffic pattern. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are shifting traffic to the new southbound lanes .

Two lanes will remain open in both directions. Left turns are limited to South Lynnhaven Parkway, Lishelle Place, Holland Road and Riverbend Road. This project phase allows the new construction of the northbound lanes and bridges. Motorists should expect this configuration to remain intact through late summer 2009.
