What's Being Done

The proposed Nimmo Parkway project will provide a new roadway connection between Holland Road and the existing section of Nimmo Parkway located to the east.

The proposed construction includes approximately 1.7 miles of new roadway, including a 1500- foot bridge over West Neck Creek and adjacent wetlands.

The proposed improvements associated with this project, combined with the improvements associated with the Princess Anne Road widening project, will provide a direct connection from Princess Anne Road at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center to General Booth Boulevard.

Why is this road being built?

The City of Virginia Beach requested the improvements be made to this corridor in November 1994. The project is also in accordance with the VDOT Six-Year Improvement Program and the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission’s 2026 Regional Transportation Plan.

Benefits

The proposed improvements will greatly improve traffic operations and reduce congestion along Princess Anne Road. It will also allow for alternate access around the Virginia Beach municipal center.
