Charles City Courthouse Phase

This first phase of the trail developed in Charles City County will be an eight-mile segment from Charles City Courthouse to Virginia Commonwealth University's Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences. This phase will be built using the existing right of way.
In conjunction with this project, Charles City County is developing a visitor center and comfort station at the historic courthouse complex in a renovated clerk’s office.
The Virginia Department of Transportation , VCU's Rice Center for Environmental Life Sciences and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries are collaborating on an interpretive site at the western end of this phase.
Cost: $5 million
Status: Construction to begin mid-2007
