What's Being Done
This project would construct a new bridge over Broad Run in Prince William County. The new bridge is marked to carry four lanes, two in each direction, to match the current configuration of Route 28. Route 28 is a four-lane undivided roadway from Hornbaker Road to Linton Hall Road. The new bridge, however, is wide enough to ultimately accommodate six lanes of traffic (three in each direction). The ultimate widening project is on hold due to a lack of funding. Prince William County is proposing in their 2006 Bond Referendum to improve the section from the Route 234 bypass to Vint Hill Road. They also plan to improve the section from Vint Hill Road to the Price William County line in their 2010 Bond Referendum.
