What's Being Done?
This project will improve the safety and mobility of pedestrians and vehicular traffic in the form of traffic signal upgrades, curb ramp reconstruction and crosswalks/markings.
The work will provide enhanced safety and better connectivity for local businesses and the St. Joseph's Villa community.
There are areas within the project limits where the pedestrian access routes do not meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) standards. Also, the existing traffic signals in the project limits have exceeded their life expectancy and are in need of replacement. These improvements are a second phase to the recently completed VDOT roadway improvement project.
Traffic impacts
Minimal lane closures are expected as part of this work. The work began Monday, March 13.
