What's Being Done

The proposed projects include more than four miles of improvements along Route 360 between the I-295 interchange and Walnut Grove Road including the relocation of Bell Creek Road.

1. Relocation of Bell Creek Road - The current intersection with Route 360 will be moved 650 feet to the east aligning the road with the northern section of Bell Creek Road. The completed road will consist of four through lanes, a raised median, curb and gutter.
2. Route 360 between I-295 and Lee-Davis Road - In order to address congestion, VDOT proposes to increase capacity from the current three lanes in each direction to four lanes between I-295 and the proposed Bell Creek Road intersection. Three lanes would remain in each direction between the proposed Bell Creek Road intersection and Lee-Davis Road. However, a continuous through/right turn lane would be added.
3. Lee-Davis Road intersection - The current intersection cannot accommodate the existing traffic and, therefore, will require additional lanes along both Lee-Davis Road and Route 360.
4. Route 360 between Lee-Davis Road and Walnut Grove Road - The current two lanes in each direction would be increased to three lanes. To ensure minimal impact to businesses, residents and community resources, the road would be widened toward the median.

Construction of this project would require VDOT to purchase right of way and easements. We estimate five families and one business would be relocated as a result of these projects.
