Project Details
In the City of Staunton at the intersection of Commerce Road (Route 11) and Woodrow Wilson Parkway (Route 262) there will be turn-lane improvements. The right-turn lane and the left-turn lane on eastbound Woodrow Wilson Parkway will be lengthened by 200 feet. The existing median will be reconstructed to accommodate the longer turning lane. Traffic signals at the intersection will be adjusted to accommodate the new lane modifications. In addition, the right turn lane on southbound Commerce Road will be reconfigured by re-striping and removing the yield sign.The average daily traffic count on Route 262 at this location is 13,000 vehicles per day.
Also as part of this contract, there are improvements to the interchange on Woodrow Wilson Parkway (Route 262) at Middlebrook Road (Route 252). The northbound acceleration lane on Route 262 will be lengthened by 800 feet.

The contract value of $658,372.43 is for both projects.
Benefit
Traffic movement through the intersection of Route 262 and Route 11 will be enhanced with the completion of this work.Safety will be improved for northbound traffic at the interchange of Route 262 at Middlebrook Road.
During Construction
Traffic in all directions will be maintained at all times during construction of these projects. Signal operations at Route 262 and Route 11 will also be maintained during construction. Flagging will be used as necessary.Contacts
