Project Details
The project is located in the Town of Front Royal. The project extends from Sixth Street and Bradford Drive to just west of Route 606 (Shenandoah Shore Road). This portion of Happy Creek provides east and west movement into the Town of Front Royal. The purpose of the project is to improve the existing road to meet future traffic capacity and to improve the current traffic movement in the Town of Front Royal. Happy Creek Road currently has two variable-width lanes with substandard shoulders and drainage.
The improved road is proposed to feature two 12-foot lanes with curb and gutter plus feature two four-foot bicycle lanes throughout the entire project. Right-turn and left-turn lanes are provided at Meadow Lane. New water, sewer and storm drains are also provided for the project.
There is no individual housing or commercial relocations affected by this project.
The current average daily traffic count is 5,300 vehicles. This number is projected to rise to 12,400 vehicles by the year 2028.
The Town of Front Royal is applying for revenue sharing to assist with project funding.
