How Virginians Move

Thousands of motorists crowd Virginia's interstates and roadways each morning and afternoon in the relentless grind of the workaday commute. But thanks to several innovative commuter programs, many employees have found creative ways to make their daily drive more enjoyable.

On the following pages are the stories of eight Virginians -- a ferry rider, a slug driver, a Zipcar rider, a bus rider, a vanpool rider, a train rider, a walker  and a bicyclist -- who have found ways to get to work that help the environment, reduce congestion and that are more enjoyable than conventional means of commuting.
