Overview

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) welcomes you to the virtual public information meeting for the Eastern Shore Rail to Trail Study.   

The study team has received a great deal of public input to-date, and we are excited to present a summary of the public input along with the alignment concept and related feasibility study information.

The materials shared in this virtual presentation include a brief overview of the project, an update on the progress made to-date, a summary of the online survey results, sample sheets from the concept alignment plans, preliminary cost-estimates and grant application efforts, and highlights of next steps toward project completion.

VDOT strives to ensure that all members of the community have the opportunity to participate in public decisions on transportation projects and VDOT representatives are available to answer your questions.  Should you need additional information in regards to your civil rights on this project or special assistance for persons with disabilities or limited English proficiency, contact the District Civil Rights Office at 757-956-3000 (TTY/TDD users dial 711).

VDOT received tremendous community engagement. We would like to thank the public for providing valuable input into the planning process.

The dashboard below shows the feedback from the public from an online Metroquest survey conducted from May 15th to June 8th. The survey was taken by 3,400 participants and had over 6,000 comments and 50,110 data points. The dashboard below allows the public to filter the data by different fields to see how various groups responded. For example, under the "Where do you live" drop down, one could click on "Accomack County" to see the results of the survey for only Accomack residents.
